High school students are invited to submit designs for a unique art pop-up experience called PRISMATIC to be installed at SPARK! Dallas. The immersive pop-up will open to the public from June through September 2025. Each team will receive a $2,500 budget for materials to create, design, and install a concept for a room (each team can fundraise up to double extra funds, if desired). The faculty/parent advisers will each recieve $500 stipend for their time and efforts.

Current high school students including homeschool and online students may enter with a minimum of 3 students and maximum of 5 students. Limit one team per school.

Each team must have an adult faculty/parent  advisor who will be the primary point of contact for the project.

As an opportunity for all applicants – we have also been granted the chance to do student/teacher Behind the scene tours at the Meow Wolf Grapevine location.

  • Team Requirements:

    • Teams must be current high school students, with a minimum of 3 students and maximum of 5.
    • Limit one team per school.

      • February 10th | Deadline to submit project concept & proposed budget
      • Week of February 12th | Winners Announced
      • February 22nd | Design/preparation period (off-site) begins
      • March 29th – May 24th | Installation building at SPARK! Dallas
      • May 30th | Opening Night for all student participants, their families and faculty advisors 

    Project Requirements:

    • Design must fit construction specs:
      • Each room will be plywood construction, 8’ x 12’, with a plywood floor and two doors that will be plywood to blend with the walls, but one room will be 8′ x 8′
      • Rooms will not have ceilings but will have wire grids to allow for hanging
      • Due to fire regulations, the décor may not obstruct water flow across the span of the ceiling in more than a 4’ x 4’ area.
      • Designs must be one main color: All surfaces, walls, doors, floor and installations must be painted, covered or built to the single color of the room.
      • Designs must fit the theme of “Fantastical Realms” and be inspired and based off of one “Realm” (examples – under the sea, Hogwarts, space, Middle Earth, Shrek’s Swamp, dystopia).
      • Designs must include transitional pieces to flow between the rooms. This will be discussed in more detail at our first workshop/feedback session with Meow Wolf Grapevine
    • Rooms are to be designed to be engaging, magical, fun and semi-interactive (think multiple selfies and Instagrammable spots within the room)
      • Minimum of 2 photo opportunities required.
      • Rooms must be designed and executed with a minimum of 40% sustainable goods. Examples – thrift stores, estate sales, resale shops, recycled goods, supplies provided by SPARK!.
      • Because of the anticipated number of visitors, materials and installations must withstand heavy traffic.
      • The following materials are not permitted: super glue, resin pouring, and/or concrete.
      • SPARK! Dallas will provide winning teams with up to $2,500 to spend on supplies & materials for their project. Teams may fundraise up to an additional $2,500 ($5,000 total) to support their project if desired.
      • Materials must be approved by SPARK! Dallas prior to purchase. Large items may be purchased by SPARK! Dallas to avoid credit card charges, etc. Receipts must be submitted within the budget of $2,500 for reimbursement.

    • May 28th 6:30 – 7:30 pm | Final Joint Mentor Session
  • In conjunction with the mandatory meetings listed above. Each team advisor must attend 3 of the meetings below with at least one Art & Scenic Session and one Tech Session. The third meeting is the team’s choice
