2021 Heart of Neiman Marcus Student Creativity Showcase


Objective:

  • To invite students across the DFW Metroplex to show us how they express their creativity through Visual Arts, Performing Arts, or STEM disciplines.

Open to:

  • All students 2nd grade through high school

Format:

  • Open Submissions: Students will complete an online entry form where they will upload an image or video of their project, and answer a short series of questions related to their project. NEW THIS YEAR – students will be encouraged to think about how their creativity and/or creative project can be used to support social justice and the movement to achieve equality for all. These entries will be reviewed by a judging panel to determine which students will move forward as Finalists.
    • Entries will be divided into 3 submission categories, and 3 age brackets:
  • Visual Arts
  • Performing Arts
  • STEM

 

  • 2nd – 5th Grade
  • 6th – 8th Grade
  • 9th – 12th Grade

  • Finalist Judging:  Second round finalists entries reviewed both by a judging panel and the online community. Finalists will receive information to encourage friends and family to vote.
  • Winners selected by April 12, 2021 and announced at the virtual event on April 17, 2021

Judging:

Two rounds of judging will be completed by a panel of local businesses and creative institutions. People’s Choice voting will take place via social media, inviting the public to participate.

COVID Contingency Plan

All judging, as well as student entries, will take place online. Awards (Judges’ Choice, People’s Choice, and Best in Show) will be announced via social media. Students will be encouraged to submit a video describing their project, which will be shared via social media with the announcement of winners.

 Grand Prizes – Best in Show:

  • $1,500 scholarship award to use to further develop their creative skill
  • Opportunity to be paired with a professional in their field of interest for a day of co-creating. This is a hands-on experience customized for each Best of Show winner and will be scheduled based on mutual availability for both the winner and the professional.
  • Neiman Marcus Social Justice Award presented to the student whose project and narrative best exemplify how they use their creativity to support the social justice movement and equality for all.
